Kareema Dean

(She/Her)
  • Vice Chair of SOCS
  • Class of 2027
  • Public Health and Economics Majors

Hi, My Name is Kareema Dean. I am currently a Sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Public Health with a Minor in Economics. I am the Vice Chair of the SOC Task Force. In this role I will be working to build a community amongst other communities of color at Pitt, working to develop a voice for underrepresented groups. I am involved in a couple of on-campus activities such as the Yabaso African Dance Team, and the National Society of Black Women in Medicine. I am also participating in research in the Pitt Public Health School looking into cancer with a school in Nigeria. My hobbies are reading, dancing, and cooking. I am interested in expanding my knowledge in public health, possibly in epidemiology or health policy and management to fight for better healthcare access.

If you were Pitt chancellor for the day, what's the first thing that you would do?

I would give money to every student for their tuition because college is expensive and many take out loans to pay for school.

What's your hot take?

Canes Isn't that good!

If you could be a food, what food would you be and why?

I would want to be a boneless wing because I Love Boneless Wings!!!!

What's your favorite place on campus?

Cathy
