Zechariah Brown

Presidential Candidate
Montclair, NJ
Political Science and Communications

My name is Zechariah Brown, and I’m a Junior in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences majoring in Political Science and minoring in Economics and Philosophy. I’m a Board Member on the 2018-19 Student Government Board, a member of the Pitt Political Science Student Association, a member of Phi Alpha Delta, and a brother of Phi Gamma Delta. My top initiative as President would be the implementation of a program called “Binging with the Board”. I believe that as board members, we do everything in our power to represent the interests of Pitt’s undergraduate student body, but we can still do more to create an environment in which students can comfortably lobby us on issues that we might be ignorant toward. My second main initiative is to work with members of the university policy office to redefine our University's alcohol policy. While we currently have a good Samaritan policy, the limits of what situations qualify for the policy are extreme, resulting in students questioning whether or not a situation qualifies, instead of ensuring the health and safety of their friends. My last main initiative is improving student safety in South Oakland safety. By working with the city of Pittsburgh through the office of Community and Governmental Relations I’m confident that we can increase the number of street lights, as well as ensure the reliability of our transportation services, and work with the administration to ensure the reliability of our alert systems. We can make Pitt a safer place for our students. I sincerely hope that you decide to vote for me because of what I hope to achieve and because you’d like to see a better, safer, and more connected Pitt. If you have any thoughts/questions please feel free to reach out to me! Hail to Pitt!
