My name is Caroline Unger and I am a sophomore in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences studying Philosophy and Political Science and pursuing a certificate in Global Health. I am on the Women's Club Lacrosse Team, a new member of Alpha Epsilon Phi, and the current chair of the Facilities, Transportation, and Technology Committee in the Student Government Board. I chose Pitt because of all of the opportunities available for students to establish themselves in Pitt’s community as well at the Pittsburgh community. I am running for the Student Government Board so I can have this same impact.

My initiatives aim to create a more inclusive campus for Pitt students regardless of what they may need. For example, a few of my initiatives have to do with dining and its accessibility. One of these would involve restructuring meal plans to allow dining dollars to roll over from semester to semester regardless of the next plan they choose. Dining dollars should always be accessible and should accommodate students as they figure out which meal plan best suites them.

Another initiative for dining would be to introduce a plan for students who are experiencing food insecurity because college students already face financial issues, and food should never have to be a part of that. Finally, I want to increase availability for those with dietary restrictions, whether they are due to an allergy, religious practices, or personal choice.

We should always be able to accommodate our students regardless of what they need and doing so will create a more inclusive campus here at Pitt. I am extremely passionate about these initiatives and plan to accomplish them with the help of students, fellow board members, and administration.
